The
Fluid
Flow
Calculator
This
calculator
is
used
to
calculate
pipe
friction
losses
for
straight
piping
handling
water
and
water
with
varying
percentages
of
ethylene
glycol.
The
calculator
uses
an
algorithm
developed
from
the
basic
principles
of
fluid
mechanics.
The
program
is
based
on
the
Darcy-Weisbach
equation,
the
Colebrook
equation,
and
the
Moody
equation.
The
program
is
intended
for
use
only
on
straight
piping.
The
program
does
not
include
pressure
losses
due
to
elevation
differences,
or
flow
through
fittings.
The
Psychometric
Calculator
This
calculator
is
used
to
compute
the
thermodynamic
properties
of
moist
air.
These
properties
are
used
by
mechanical
engineers
to
design
Heating
Ventilating
&
Air
Conditioning
(HVAC)
systems
and
processes.
The
program
uses
equations
which
are
derived
from
the
perfect
gas
relations
and
is
suitable
for
most
HVAC
engineering
applications
-
within
the
range
of
-40
to
150
degrees
Fahrenheit.
Specifically,
the
program
is
based
on
the
procedure
outlined
in
the
1997
ASHRAE
Fundamentals
Handbook,
Chapter
6
-
Psychometrics,
section:
Numerical
Calculation
of
Moist
Air
Properties.
The
program
also
uses
data
(absolute
pressures
vs
temperature
for
water
at
saturation)
from
Table
3
(Thermodynamic
Properties
of
Water
at
Saturation),
also
from
chapter
6
of
the
1997
ASHRAE
Fundamentals
Handbook.
The
Saturated
Steam
Tables
This
calculator
is
used
to
compute
the
thermodynamic
properties
of
saturated
steam.
This
calculator
uses
steam
properties
from
the
1967
ASME
Steam
Tables,
published
by
the
American
Society
of
Mechanical
Engineers.
This
calculator
allows
the
user
to
input
either
temperature
or
pressure
in
either
metric
or
I-P
units.
The
calculator
then
outputs
the
pressure
or
temperature,
the
specific
volume,
the
enthalpy,
and
the
entropy.
The
values
are
obtained
by
a
linear
interpolation
between
available
data
points.
This
calculator
provides
reasonable
accuracy.
Before
I
release
this
calculator,
I
must
have
more
precise
data.
In
the
meantime,
please
feel
free
to
use
it,
but
make
sure
you
double
check
your
answers
with
another
source
of
data
-
just
to
be
safe.
The
Air
Duct
Calculator
The
Air
Duct
Calculator
is
a
PERL/CGI
script
which
allows
users
to
size
ductwork
and
calculate
duct
pressure
losses.
The
program
is
written
in
the
PERL
programming
language
and
is
intended
for
use
on
the
World
Wide
Web
via
the
Common
Gateway
Interface.
The
program
is
designed
for
use
by
Mechanical
Engineers
who
design
air
distribution
or
exhaust
systems
for
Heating
Ventilating
and
Air
Conditioning
systems.
The
program
allows
users
to
input
a
desired
flow
rate
in
CFM,
a
limiting
velocity
in
FPM,
air
pressure
in
PSI,
air
temperature
in
degrees
F,
the
length
of
the
duct,
and
the
duct
material.
The
program
then
calculates
the
duct
cross
sectional
area,
the
circular
duct
diameter,
rectangular
duct
equivalents
(with
aspect
ratios
of
1.0
through
4.0),
air
density,
fluid
viscosity,
Reynold's
number,
relative
roughness,
the
Moody
friction
factor,
the
Colebrook
friction
factor,
the
pressure
loss
in
PSI,
and
the
duct
friction
loss
in
inches
of
H20
per
100
FT
of
duct
length.
The
program
uses
the
Moody
equation,
the
Colebrook
equation,
the
Darcy-Weisbach
equation,
the
perfect
gas
laws,
and
the
Huebscher
equation
