Numerical
Weather
Prediction
(NWP)
is
a
way
to
predict
weather
by
calculation
on
the
basis
of
physical
principals
(conservation
of
energy,
momentum
and
mass)
,
and
is
a
vital
tool
for
modern
meteorological
services
because
of
its
high
accuracy.
JMA
runs
NWP
models
using
a
super
computer
to
predict
future
atmospheric
state.
In
that
process,
the
computer
first
creates
the
initialized
fields
of
such
meteorological
elements
as
atmospheric
pressures,
temperatures
and
winds,
Synoptic
stations,
ships,
aircraft
and
satellites
are
the
major
data
sources
to
create
the
initial
fields.
Then
the
computer
makes
a
time
integration
of
dynamic
equations
from
the
initialized
fields
to
produce
future
atmospheric
state.
